Mbombela United FC

Mbombela are returning to the Nedbank Cup for the second season running having appeared in the Last 32 in 2013 as well.

There they lost 4-1 at home to National First Division side Vasco da Gama, but would have learnt a lot form that experience and hope to come back stronger this year.

The club prides itself on recruiting players only from the local community and has a very young squad of players who are competing in the Nedbank Cup for the first time.

Owned by the Matsebula brothers, Oupa and Sikhumbuzo, who are successful local businessmen, the teamwas formed in 2009 when they purchased the status of Mpumalanga SAFA Second Division side Manchester United, renaming the club Mbombela United.

The brothers have certainly brought their business acumen to the club, which has a thriving social media presence and even its own monthly magazine!
The coach of the side is Alex Zondi and they are among the frontrunners again this season having stormed to the Mpumalanga SAFA Second Division title in the last campaign.
United play their home games at the KaNyamazane Stadium and go by the nickname of Tingwenyama.
